Description of position:


We are seeking an experienced and passionate Curriculum Coordinator to join our academic

team. The Curriculum Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the school's

educational offerings, ensuring the coherence, integration, and effectiveness of the PYP, MYP, and

DP curricula. This role requires a dynamic leader who can collaborate with teachers, support staff,

and leadership to align the curriculum across all stages of learning, maintain high standards of

educational quality, and promote the IB's ethos and philosophy.


Key Responsibilities:


Curriculum Development & Implementation:


  • Oversee and coordinate the development, implementation, and continuous

  • improvement of the PYP, MYP, and DP curricula.

  • Ensure alignment with the IB frameworks and standards, the British National

  • curriculum and the Brazilian BNCC, incorporating best practices in pedagogy and

  • subject-specific content.

  • Work closely with Heads of Departments to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment

  • of learning objectives across all grades.

  • Facilitate the review and revision of existing curriculum to reflect the evolving needs

  • of the students and changes in IB requirements.


Curriculum Support & Guidance:


  • Provide ongoing support and professional development for teachers in relation to curriculum design, planning, and delivery.

  • Offer guidance on differentiation, assessment strategies, and formative/summative assessment practices.

  • Ensure that the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs or English as an additional language (EAL), are met within the curriculum.


Assessment & Data Analysis:


  • Support the development and implementation of consistent, coherent assessment practices in line with IB requirements.

  • Monitor student progress across all programmes, analyzing data to inform curriculum adjustments and teaching strategies.

  • Work with faculty to use formative and summative data to improve student outcomes and identify areas for curriculum enhancement.


Collaboration & Communication:


  • Foster a collaborative environment within the teaching team, promoting open dialogue and the sharing of best practices.

  • Prepare curriculum reports and updates for the College Principal and other senior leadership team members.


Professional Development:


  • Organize and lead workshops, training sessions, and seminars on

  • curriculum-related topics for staff.

  • Stay abreast of current educational research, trends in IB education, and changes

  • to IB policies and frameworks.

  • Stay abreast of current educational research, trends in British National curriculum

  • and the Brazilian BNCC, and changes to their policies and frameworks.

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and development among all faculty.


Inclusion & Wellbeing:


  • Ensure the curriculum is inclusive, accessible, and reflects diverse cultural

  • perspectives.

  • Work alongside the school’s pastoral team to integrate social-emotional learning

  • and wellbeing initiatives into the curriculum.


Other Duties:

Attend and contribute to school meetings, IB workshops, and conferences as

required.

Contribute to the school’s strategic planning and improvement processes.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the College Principal.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (or equivalent

  • experience).

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an IB school, with a deep understanding of the PYP,

  • MYP, and DP frameworks.

  • Proven experience in curriculum development, instructional leadership, and teacher

  • mentorship.

  • Strong knowledge of assessment strategies and data-driven decision-making in an

  • international context.

  • Familiarity with current educational trends, technology integration, and best practices in

  • teaching and learning.

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural environment.


Desirable Skills:


  • Experience in a leadership or coordination role within an IB school.

  • Certification in IB teaching and/or curriculum coordination (PYP, MYP, DP).

  • Multilingual abilities are an asset.
