Southpointe is seeking an energetic, outgoing and collaborative teacher who shares a commitment to inquiry- and concept based teaching and learning. Reporting to the Senior School Principal, the Middle and Senior School Economics and Individuals & Societies Teacher will commence August 21, 2025.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

These may include, but are not limited to:

• Develop inquiry-based and dynamic programs

• Demonstrate strong pedagogical practice in the Humanities

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the development of an inquiry-based, interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning.

• Foster caring, committed and supportive relationships with students and families.

• Create an environment that promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and care.

• Use engaging technology to enhance instruction and learning.

• Participate in professional development training related to the IB programmes.

• Design, prepare and deliver learning experiences that facilitate authentic engagement.

• Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet diverse student needs.

• Design and implement a range of authentic learning assessments that provide timely feedback to students and clear direction to parents.

• Maintain accurate, ongoing and complete records of student progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting.

• Prepare reports, conduct parent-teacher conferences and communicate with parents on an ongoing

  basis in order to foster an open and supportive relationship.

• Model a strong work ethic, high standard of commitment, and maintain excellent professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, students and parents.

• Participate in community building events, both in and out of school hours.

• May include additional teaching responsibilities as needed.

Southpointe educators offer co-curricular activities for students by either devising their own programmes or participating in the school’s Athletics offerings throughout the three different sporting seasons.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor of Education or Equivalent;

• BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate.

Preferences

• DP Economics training or teaching experience;

• At least 1-2 years teaching experience;

• Valid First Aid Certificate.

Salary

• Southpointe's teacher salary grid is 6% above the Delta public school grid for the 2025-2026 school year;

• The current annual salary range for a full-time teaching position at Southpointe Academy during the 2025-2026 school year is from $68,442 to $116,091 based on placement on the approved teacher salary grid;

• Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is based on level of qualifications and duration of full-time teaching experience.
