Description of Position:
An International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Mathematics Teacher plays a pivotal role in guiding students aged 11 to 16
through a comprehensive and challenging math curriculum. This position
demands a blend of pedagogical expertise, a deep understanding of the IB
framework, and a commitment to fostering a stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery:
Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the IB MYP mathematics framework, ensuring lessons are tailored to meet diverse student needs and promote critical thinking.
Assessment and Evaluation: Employ a variety of assessment
methods to monitor and evaluate student progress, providing
constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
Develop and update unit plans and related documents to reflect current best practices and student needs.
Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Student Engagement and Support:
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active student participation and intellectual curiosity.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
Differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs of students, including those requiring additional support or enrichment.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
Work collaboratively with department members and other faculty to develop and share effective teaching practices.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and IB methodologies.
Contribute to departmental tasks such as policy development, common assessments, and curriculum evaluation.
Extracurricular Involvement:
Organize and lead at least one extracurricular activity or enrichment program to enhance the student experience.
Support students in IB core components, including the MYP
Personal Project, as necessary.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field, a Master's degree is preferred.
Teaching Certification: Valid teaching certification, with a specialization in secondary mathematics education.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of teaching experience in a
secondary school setting, preferably within the IB MYP framework.
IB Training: Formal training in IB MYP mathematics is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Instructional Skills: Proficiency in delivering differentiated instruction
to accommodate varying student abilities and learning styles.
Technological Proficiency: Ability to integrate technology effectively
into teaching practices to enhance student learning.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
facilitating effective collaboration with students, parents, and
colleagues.
Cultural Competence: Experience working in diverse, multicultural
educational settings, demonstrating sensitivity and adaptability.

developments.
