Description of Position:


An International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Mathematics Teacher plays a pivotal role in guiding students aged 11 to 16

through a comprehensive and challenging math curriculum. This position


demands a blend of pedagogical expertise, a deep understanding of the IB

framework, and a commitment to fostering a stimulating learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:


Curriculum Delivery:


  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the IB MYP mathematics framework, ensuring lessons are tailored to meet diverse student needs and promote critical thinking.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Employ a variety of assessment

    methods to monitor and evaluate student progress, providing

    constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.

  • Develop and update unit plans and related documents to reflect current best practices and student needs.

  • Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.


Student Engagement and Support:


  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active student participation and intellectual curiosity.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support their academic growth.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs of students, including those requiring additional support or enrichment.


Collaboration and Professional Development:


  • Work collaboratively with department members and other faculty to develop and share effective teaching practices.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and IB methodologies.

  • Contribute to departmental tasks such as policy development, common assessments, and curriculum evaluation.


Extracurricular Involvement:


  • Organize and lead at least one extracurricular activity or enrichment program to enhance the student experience.

  • Support students in IB core components, including the MYP

  • Personal Project, as necessary.


Qualifications:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field, a Master's degree is preferred.

  • Teaching Certification: Valid teaching certification, with a specialization in secondary mathematics education.


Experience:


A minimum of two years of teaching experience in a

secondary school setting, preferably within the IB MYP framework.


  • IB Training: Formal training in IB MYP mathematics is highly desirable.


Skills and Competencies:


Instructional Skills: Proficiency in delivering differentiated instruction

to accommodate varying student abilities and learning styles.


Technological Proficiency: Ability to integrate technology effectively

into teaching practices to enhance student learning.


Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills,

facilitating effective collaboration with students, parents, and

colleagues.


Cultural Competence: Experience working in diverse, multicultural

educational settings, demonstrating sensitivity and adaptability.

development to stay current with educational best practices and IB

developments.
