Position Overview:
The MYP Coordinator will play a pivotal role in guiding St. Marcel Academy through the MYP
candidacy process and ensuring the successful implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme.
This individual will work closely with the school leadership team, teachers, students, and the IB
organization to align our curriculum, teaching practices, and school culture with the rigorous
standards of the IB MYP framework.
Key Responsibilities:
MYP Candidacy Process:
Lead the school through the MYP candidacy and authorization process, ensuring compliance with
all IB requirements and timelines.
Serve as the primary liaison between St. Marcel Academy and the International Baccalaureate
Organization (IBO).
Prepare and submit all necessary documentation, reports, and applications related to the MYP
candidacy process.
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
Collaborate with teachers to design and implement an engaging, inquiry-based curriculum aligned
with the IB MYP framework.
Provide guidance on interdisciplinary teaching and assessment strategies.
Ensure that the curriculum reflects the IB philosophy and promotes international-mindedness.
Professional Development:
Organize and facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions for teachers to
build their capacity in delivering the MYP.
Mentor and support teachers in understanding and applying IB teaching methodologies.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Work closely with the school leadership team to integrate the MYP into the broader vision and
mission of St. Marcel Academy.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive school culture that supports student-centered learning.
Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote understanding and support for
the MYP.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Establish systems for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the MYP.
Use data and feedback to continuously improve teaching and learning practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or a related field (IB training and certification
preferred).
Proven experience as an MYP Coordinator or in a similar leadership role within an IB school.
In-depth knowledge of the IB MYP framework, philosophy, and standards.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of educators.
Experience working in an international or multicultural school setting is an advantage.
