PERFORMING ARTS TEACHER - MIDDLE AND SENIOR SCHOOL - CANADA

Reporting to the Junior School Principal or designate, the

Junior School PYP Performing Arts Teacher position will commence on August 21, 2025 for the

2025-2026 school year. It is anticipated that the PYP Performing Arts teacher will work with students

from Kindergarten through to Grade 2.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, inquiry-based music lessons that integrate singing, movement, instruments, and creative expression, fostering student agency and creativity through improvisation, composition, and collaborative performances;

  • Integrate technology into music instruction using digital tools, apps, and online resources to enhance student learning and engagement;

  • Connect music learning to trans disciplinary themes by collaborating with both homeroom and specialist teachers, incorporating cross-curricular elements into lessons;

  • Plan and facilitate musical performances, assemblies, and school events, supporting student participation in concerts and celebrations;

  • Organize and lead co-curricular music clubs, such as choir and band, during lunch and after school;

  • Expose students to diverse musical traditions and genres, promoting cultural appreciation and global awareness;

  • Collaborate with the school community and external partners to enrich the Performing Arts program through guest musicians, field trips, and special projects;

  • Teach engaging and developmentally appropriate Visual Arts lessons for either Kindergarten, Grade 1, or Grade 2 students, fostering creativity, self-expression, and foundational art skills through a variety of techniques, materials, and artistic explorations;

  • Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of all learners by using various instructional strategies and scaffolding techniques;

  • Implement ongoing formative assessments to track student progress, provide timely feedback, and document learning through digital tools;

  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and prepare clear, meaningful report card comments that include strengths, focus areas, and next steps for learning;

  • Foster a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment that supports exploration, discovery, and mutual respect;

  • Use Toddle and Google Sites to document and showcase student learning, demonstrating growth and sharing achievements with parents and the school community;

  • Maintain a professional and collaborative approach in all interactions with students, colleagues, administrators, and families;

  • Participate in school community events, both during and outside of school hours;

  • May include additional teaching responsibilities, as needed.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent;

  • BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate;

  • Preference may be given to teachers with 1-2 years of experience;

  • Valid First-Aid certificate


Salary


  • Southpointe's teacher salary grid will be 6% above the Delta public school salary grid at all levels of the grid;

  • The annual salary for a full-time teaching position at Southpointe Academy during the 2025-2026

  • school year ranges from $68,422 to $116,091 based on placement on the approved teacher salary grid;

  • Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is based on level of qualifications and duration of full-time teaching experience.

Salary:

  • levels of the grid and will further increase to 6% above the Delta public school grid for the

  • 2025-2026 school year;

  • The current annual salary range for a full-time teaching position at Southpointe Academy during

  • the 2025-2026 school year is from $68,442 to $116,091 based on placement on the approved

  • teacher salary grid;

  • Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is based on level of qualifications and duration of

  • full-time teaching experience.
