Overview:


The Secondary PE Teacher & Athletic Coordinator will play a dual role within the school, contributing to

the development and delivery of Physical Education in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and high

school, as well as overseeing athletic coordination for secondary school sports. The individual will work

closely with the Head of PE to ensure smooth management of sports programmes, athletic events, and

student participation.


Key Responsibilities:


As Secondary PE Teacher:


  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons in line with the MYP and high

  • school curriculum.

  • Foster an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that promotes physical literacy, fitness,

  • teamwork, and sportsmanship.

  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and report on student performance in

  • accordance with IB standards.

  • Integrate inquiry-based learning approaches and promote student reflection on physical health

  • and well-being.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the PE curriculum and extracurricular activities.

  • Ensure adherence to school safety policies during physical activities and sporting events.


As Secondary Athletic Coordinator:


  • Support the Head of PE in managing the overall athletics program for secondary school, including

    scheduling, staffing, and event logistics.

  • Organize and coordinate sports fixtures, tournaments, and festivals, ensuring appropriate

    arrangements are made for venues, transport, and referees.

  • Represent the school at leagues’ meetings, ensuring compliance with league regulations and

    promoting the school’s values and sportsmanship.

  • Coordinate the timetable for after-school sports practices and ensure facilities and resources are

    available.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as referees, officials, and transport companies to ensure

    smooth operations of athletic events.

  • Assist in managing the school’s athletic budget, including tracking expenses for equipment,

    transport, and event fees.

  • Communicate with students, parents, and staff about upcoming events, schedules, and

    expectations.

  • Promote a positive sports culture and encourage student participation in school sports and

    activities.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.

  • Teaching certification or equivalent qualification to teach PE in secondary education.

  • Experience with the MYP (IB) curriculum is highly desirable.

  • Prior experience in sports event coordination or athletic program management.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and external partners.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment.


Skills:


  • Knowledge of a range of sports and fitness activities appropriate for secondary school students.

  • Proficiency in organizing and coordinating multi-level events and managing logistics.

  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in school sports settings.

  • Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to engage in physical activities and sports.
