UWC Mahindra College is a pre-university residential high school for 240 students aged 16 to 19 representing more than 80 countries. The College offers the globally recognised 2-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, taught by 30 faculty members from around the world.

Role Overview

MUWCI is seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) / Learning Support Teacher to work with students requiring additional academic support. The role involves diagnostic assessment, individualized education planning (IEPs), and targeted interventions to help students overcome learning challenges and reach their full potential.


While the primary responsibility is learning support, candidates with experience teaching an IBDP subject will be at an advantage.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised and small-group instruction to students with diverse learning needs, including dyslexia, language difficulties and subject-specific challenges.

  • Conduct initial diagnostic assessments to identify learning needs and develop

  • Individualised Education Plans (IEPs).

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt teaching methods and create inclusive learning environments.

  • Use assistive technologies and specialised learning tools to enhance student engagement and comprehension.

  • Liaise with speech and language therapists, psychologists and other professionals to ensure holistic student support.

  • Offer guidance and strategies to faculty on accommodating students with learning differences.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and regularly communicate with faculty, students, and parents.

  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and inclusive learning strategies.



Qualifications & Experience


Essential:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.

  • B.Ed. in General or Special Education with relevant diploma or certification in special education.

  • Experience in working with students with learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, or other special needs.

  • Familiarity with international education settings, ideally within the IBDP framework.


Preferred:


  • Experience teaching an IBDP subject in addition to learning support.

  • Training in educational psychology, behavioral interventions, or literacy support programs.

  • Understanding of inclusive education methodologies and their application in diverse, multicultural environments.
